Getting Social

Action & Impact February Update

It’s been just over a year since we started sharing as the Mahabba Network on Instagram. This month we’re sharing some of the statistics behind the account, so you can be inspired to keep praying as we reach out to a younger generation.

Keeping it simple..

  • we’ve had an average monthly growth of 16%,

  • total followers now at just over 400

  • since September, we’ve been reaching over 6,000 people per month, with a high of 12,000 one month.

  • Over 200 people clicked through to the website via Facebook and Instagram.

We’ve been utilising all the different tools and content available to us. Feedback from group coordinators has been encouraging. They’ve shared that when they need quick inspiration for prayer meetings then the Mahabba Network Instagram account is where they look. Our content has been a mixture of encouragement, and a little bit of challenge thrown in. We’ve also been sharing key information and dates around the Islamic calendar, and encouraging prayer around Muslim celebrations, especially Eid.

We’ve been using the platform to build relationships with other like-minded organisations, Christian Unions and individuals. All of whom have an interest in mission and sharing the good news of Jesus with the Muslim communities around them. It’s been wonderful watching these conversations grow and seeing where we can support each other.

We’d like to see God move this year and create an even more engaged community where people feel able to ask questions and get advice. Please join with us in prayer, and ask God to direct the right people to discover the account and engage with it.

Help Mahabba grow & develop: Become a volunteer

As a relational network, volunteers have been vital to the growth of Mahabba. We currently have some gaps in our Support Circle, which help support local groups and Network activity.

If you want to serve the Mahabba vision, and have a few hours spare per week or month, we’d love to hear from you. Your practical support can help us encourage ordinary Christians as they pray and share their faith with Muslims.

We are looking for several individuals who can help us in the following areas. Training can be given, all roles are flexible and are on a voluntary basis.

Get in touch with us if you are interested in any of the following at hello@mahabbanetwork.com. We’ll then set up a short call with you to see how you can get involved.

1.    You like technology so can help us keep the Mahabba website updated with events and resources

2.    You’re well organised so can handle e-mail enquiries and get messages to people in the Network

3.    You’re a systems person, so like keeping lists and databases up to date and help us with ChurchSuite

4.    As a sociable and social-savvy person, you can help us produce and publish prayer reminders on Facebook and Twitter

5.    You love building community, so can help foster healthy discussions and engagement on our community platform (Discourse)

For more info and for a friendly chat about whether one of these could be a good fit for you, get in touch with Simon by e-mail hello@mahabbanetwork.com

P.S.

Our local Mahabba groups are the centre of our work as a network. If you’re not connected already, why not get in touch or connect up with someone you know?
