A growing network

November update

These regular updates are continuing to unpack the refreshed Mahabba vision and how it’s being worked out in practice across the Network. Last month we reflected on seeing ‘ministry among people of Muslim heritage become a normal part of church life’. That’s the picture of the future we’re looking to, believing and working for.

The vision statement continues… ‘Mahabba is a relational network giving those of Muslim heritage the opportunity to find and follow Jesus’.

Together we are a network, not an organisation or agency. We are connected by a shared purpose - our vision and values. Thriving networks relate, share and learn from one another. Creativity and initiatives come from all parts of the network and benefit the whole. Networks reproduce - each new group enriches and adds value for every other group and the network as a whole.

How can we get Mahabba working more as a network for the benefit of all? Please share your thoughts. Here are some initiatives now up and running - means of the network serving the network:

  • Regional Clusters are providing a way for those coordinating local Mahabba groups, and others, to connect, be encouraged and equipped

  • Network Circles (working groups) are enabling experience in the network to be drawn on and initiatives to be developed - in areas such as resources, promotion, support and the network itself (its growth and development)

  • Discourse - many are already in conversations on a wide range of topics and questions on the Mahabba secure on-line discussion forum. Join and encourage others to join here

  • Network Updates, blogs and vlogs are where our stories and questions, experiences and challenges are shared. If you know others who would appreciate these regular communications please point them to the website to sign up here

There are numerous ways to be more involved in growing, supporting, resourcing and promoting the network. Could you play a part in one of the following ways?

  • Help start a new local Mahabba group if there’s not one near you

  • Be part of a regional team in support of local groups

  • Be part of a Circle (working group) to help in the provision of resources, or in promoting vision and values, or in providing administrative or technical support

  • Serve Mahabba groups by sharing from your experience eg in providing training or coaching

  • Help raise awareness of the network and its vision
